The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War Two. Although COVID-19 lockdown has spared none during these unprecedented moments, still the hardest has been on the utmost ignored sections of the society. With no access to the basics, they are in a dire need of support and understanding. In these times, stocked refrigerators and safe shelters are big blessings to have. However, not everyone has the means for this. The nationwide lockdown to control the spread of corona virus in India has affected the livelihood of many people making them to struggle to earn their daily bread. |
King of Glory Missions, through various assessment in and around Chennai made initiative to support the families of the underprivileged, who required assistance amid COVID-19. We came to know about a group of Gypsy families in Mappedu – Chennai, seeking food and healthcare during this hard time. These people have lost their livelihood, due to this lockdown and they were unable to make their living. So we decided to provide immediate relief support, keeping in mind that no one should have to sleep hungry. As directed by the government, we requested permission from the government authorities for distributing the relief products. The Officials appreciated our initiative and they assisted us by sending police officials to guide the people to stand in queue to receive the relief material. Following the guidelines of Social distancing and safety procedures, we distributed rice and groceries in packages to 91 families. Another area Agaram Then, near Mappedu, Chennai is also reported to have 30 families of the Snake Charmers suffering the lockdown crisis. Due to this curfew, many people of these families are unable to earn for their living, leading them to starve without food. We reached there and distributed the relief materials package containing rice and groceries. We received a request to support the 22 families of poor people working on daily wage basis in Old Perungalathur, a Suburb of Chennai. We came to notice that due to this pandemic crisis, the people are starving for few days and there were no relief measures taken to stop the hunger. So, we decided to provide immediate relief to these people by providing them with food materials in packages with rice and groceries. Further we are seeking support from volunteers and public to join hands with us to help the society to overcome this critical situation. There is no gallery selected or the gallery was deleted. |
